Originally from China, Mei-li received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan and her Masters of Science in Cell Biology from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

When she was in New Jersey she worked at Rutgers Medical School in Dr. David Gocke’s Immunology lab for three years.  She moved to Michigan after her husband received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.  Later she worked at Oakland University in Dr. Asish Nag’s Biological Sciences lab for six years.  Since 1993, Mei-Li has been with Dr. Diane Chugani’s lab as a Research Assistant for the PET center at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Mei-Li is a member of the Michigan Chinese Choir and periodically plays the piano during her Sunday Church services.  She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her three daughters.
